Seeds of Change + Announcement

Here is your clue to the big announcement.

Sorry I have been away for a bit. But I'm still here, just slow to post. But I have something lovely for you today. Seeds of Change began selling seeds and now sells a few other things as well. Their mission for sustainability and an investment in the earth is fantastic, but here is something they are committed to that you can really appreciate. They are giving away 100 million of their own "seeds of change". Free organic seeds for everyone! And it is garden planting time on the East Coast. You cover a nominal shipping and handling fee and they will send you 25 packets of great quality seeds. And then they will match your seeds with a donation to the American Horticulture Society, also a good thing.

In other news, I am pulling up my roots here in Maryland. In less than three months time I will be moving my family down south. Justin defended his thesis yesterday completes his orthodontic program in June. Our life is now signed away to an orthodontic group practice in Arlington, Texas, nestled into the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Where wild edibles include prickly pear cactus (tunas and nopales), which as best picked with tongs.  So exciting new things are coming soon- like two growing seasons in Texas and more room to grow it all in as we make the switch from urban (it has been 7 happy years now) to suburban (how soon can I put a hen house in the back yard?). So, I guess I need to tell you all this to say, hang tight, I'm still here, things are just getting a bit busy around here.

Thanks for sticking around. I love doing this. And appreciate you for reading.

  1. Congratulations on your upcoming move to Texas! I live in the Austin area. Though gardening in Texas certainly has its own challenges, it is delightful to have two growing seasons every year. We're currently harvesting lettuce, spinach, kale, broccoli and swiss chard! We also just built a duck house and are nursing 1-week-old Welsh Harlequin ducks in hopes of yummy buttery duck eggs in the near future. You'll love it here. People talk to you in the grocery in Texas. I love that.

Love your blog too. Thanks for writing!

  2. Ooh! Thanks for the seed notice! We're in the process of tearing up the patchy grass in the backyard to start a garden, so I am excited to see what variety of seeds Seeds of Change sends my way to add to our little plot!

Oh, and hi, I stalk your blog now. :)
