New Cookbook

I saw this article in the Baltimore Sun the other day. It is about chef and New York Times columnist Mark Bittman's new cookbook Food Matters. The article says he has a new cooking style which is "'first eat big platefuls of plants.' He also advocates eating beans for breakfast, snacking on popcorn cooked in a brown paper bag and eating like a vegan, at least until 6 o'clock at night. In the evenings, he doesn't rule out meat and fish, but eats them in small portions." I can't wait to check out his cookbook. It sounds right along the lines with the way I've been trying to have my family eat. I've already reserved it at the library.

  1. I bought it. It's great. It is basically a condensed version of Michael Pollan's Omnivores Dilemma and Eat Food with some recipes. I also have Bittman's how to cook everything vegetarian which is an extensive cookbook.

  2. Oh, that sounds excellent. I'm happy to have been introduced to Mark Bittman through the articles you link on your blog, Anna. Thanks for the cookbook suggestion, Nichole. I'll have to check this one out too.
