Turnips

I am not here to post about how much I love turnips or share my favorite recipe for them. Rather, I am here to ask for some help. I think I might not like turnips. And I know that trying something once and rejecting it doesn't count for really trying something. I have read that it counts when you have tried the particular food cooked in seven different preparations, and if you still don't like it, then you really don't. And I don't think I like turnips, so help me out. Tell me how you like them prepared. Or are you with me on this one- do you not like them either?

  1. I wonder how they would taste prepared like Butternut squash soup? You know all pureed with the chicken broth and other veggies? And make sure you use garlic! I don't know what turnips taste like.

  2. I don't like them. I've tried them roasted, sauted, and boiled. And on a salad. Not a big fan.

  3. The only way I have ever liked them (and I have tried, I really have), is in a beef pot pie my Dad makes with carrots and parsnips and onion and potato. Every other way I have had them I think they are disgusting.

  4. I've made pureed turnips from Mark Bittman's "How to Cook Everything" and they were delicious. You mix them with a potato and they have a thicker consistency. Look it up- I would definitely make the recipe again.
